MANSFIELD, MA -- August 19, 2002 - Axeda Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: XEDA), the pioneer of the growing market for device relationship management (DRM) enterprise software and services, today announced that the integration between its Axeda Device Relationship Management System™ version 2.5 and Siebel eBusiness Applications version 7 has been successfully validated by Siebel Systems. Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEBL) is the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software.
The Axeda DRM TM System enables companies to use the Internet to establish and manage full lifecycle connections with the remote devices they make, service, or use. Siebel Systems provides an integrated family of eBusiness applications software, enabling multichannel sales, marketing, and customer service systems to be deployed over the Web, in call centers, in the field, through reseller channels, and across retail and dealer networks. With this validation, customers of Siebel Systems and Axeda Systems can now become proactive enterprises, fixing problems before they occur, providing service before customers know they need it, and bringing together the right person with the right skill at the right time-providing significantly better service at a lower cost.
The Axeda DRM System extends Siebel 7 touchpoints directly to devices deployed at customer sites. Call center and field service personnel working in the Siebel 7 environment can utilize Axeda DRM to access live data from devices anywhere, enabling remote diagnostics, analysis, and proactive response. Axeda Systems is a Software Partner in the Siebel Alliance Program and has already validated Axeda DRM version 2.0 with Siebel eBusiness Applications version 6.
The integration of Axeda DRM version 2.5 with Siebel 7 extends the Axeda integration validated last year by taking advantage of new Siebel 7 features. For example, Siebel Field Service 7 extends the contracts module to include management of service level agreements. With usage-based service contracts in Siebel Field Service 7, usage is either estimated or entered manually. The Axeda DRM integration ensures that usage is tracked in real time, so that service level agreements can be managed automatically and in an unbiased fashion.
"Together, Axeda DRM and Siebel 7 provide a rapidly deployable system optimizing service delivery for companies that manufacture and maintain intelligent machines, equipment, and devices," said Robert M. Russell, Jr., CEO of Axeda Systems. "Siebel 7 provides an open, flexible, Smart Web Architecture to easily support truly integrated eBusiness solutions that result in improved customer service at lower costs. This hard return on investment that Axeda delivers through service cost savings helps justify corporate investments in CRM and other eBusiness projects."
"With the integration of Axeda DRM and Siebel Field Service 7, device manufacturers now have access to a solution that can significantly lower costs and improve productivity in their field service operations," said William Hou, Director of Product Marketing at Siebel Systems. "Together, Axeda and Siebel Field Service 7 arm the field service team with more and better real-time information, reflecting actual customer experience with devices in the field. The result is smarter service and truly satisfied customers."
Siebel Systems forms alliances with proven technology leaders to deliver tangible business benefits throughout the enterprise. By choosing Siebel 7 and validated partner solutions, Siebel Systems' customers can pursue a best-of-class software acquisition strategy and quickly deploy the very best solution available. The Siebel Validation Program applies rigorous technical scrutiny to evaluate the integration of third-party solutions with Siebel eBusiness Applications. Integrations that meet the strict testing criteria are validated and documented by the Siebel Validation Program.
