Varian Medical Systems collaborated closely with Axeda on the requirements for the Safe Access™ feature to ensure patient safety and confidentiality, as well as compliance with regulatory requirements.

The awarded Axeda patent contains 90 claims. Highlights include:

• Screen sharing with a remote device is enabled based on the state or condition of the device.  Alarms can be interpreted to enable, disable, or disconnect a screen sharing session.
• Screen sharing sessions can be terminated based on a change of condition or state of the remote device
• Screen sharing can be implemented over a public network, such as the Internet, and in cases where the remote device is located behind a firewall or other security system.
