The M2M Event of the Year Sees Record Attendance

Boston, MA (June 8, 2011) – Axeda Connexion 2011 kicked-off today with a standing room only crowd for the conference opening keynotes. With presentations from Gartner, AT&T, and Axeda, the morning agenda featured both visionary themes and real-world examples of the transformative impact M2M (machine-to-machine) is having in business and in our daily lives.

Axeda founder and M2M pioneer, Dale Calder, opened the conference with a retrospective on the connectivity and communications evolution that has set the foundation for today’s M2M innovations. He was joined onstage by All Traffic Solutions, Tyco, Walsh Vision and Welch Allyn, who showed their game-changing M2M solutions built on the Axeda® Platform.

According to Calder, who referenced Metcalfe's Law and the “Network Effect” in his talk, “the more uses of M2M data, the more users, and the more users, the more valuable the network.”

Calder was followed by Gartner research VP, Eric Goodness, who highlighted the cloud as a key accelerator for the M2M market and pointed to healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture as industries driving increased M2M adoption. The morning concluded with Chris Hill, AT&T’s vice president of advanced enterprise mobility solutions, who discussed the increased role of the operators in delivering end-to-end M2M solutions.

Attendees enjoyed the interactive customer and partner showcase, which featured a wide range of “talking machines,” including MooBella ice cream vending machines, a Diebold ATM, and All Traffic Solutions roadside traffic signs.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the turnout and support for this event,” said Mary Wells, CMO, Axeda. “Our customers and partners came out in force to make the whole conference a best-in-class experience for our attendees – and the record attendance is a sure sign of a growing M2M market.”

Axeda Connexion 2011 is sponsored by AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Ericsson, Strategic Telecom, Telenor Connexion, Walsh Vision, Bug Labs, DH Solutions, ORBCOMM, and Telit.
