Axeda DRM Enables Centralized Data and Enhanced Customer Service
MANSFIELD, Mass -- December 1, 2003 - Axeda Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: XEDA), the world's leading provider of device relationship management (DRM) enterprise software and services, today announced that FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc. has licensed the Axeda DRM systemTM.
The Axeda DRM system will extend Fuji's remote monitoring capability by enabling automated software upgrades, usage data tracking, and a 24x7 view into their deployed systems. It will also make it possible for all of their data to be centralized in one location.
As a web-based solution, the Axeda DRM system is a more secure, lower cost alternative to VPN and legacy dial-up solutions. Because it works through existing network security, such as hospital firewalls and proxy servers, no change in IT security is required.
"We are thrilled that FUJIFILM, the world's leading provider of PACS systems, has selected Axeda for it's remote diagnostics solution," said Robert M. Russell Jr., chairman and CEO of Axeda Systems Inc. "Similar to the Synapse® system, which allows doctors to diagnose patients from anywhere in the world, the Axeda DRM system will enable their service team to proactively and remotely diagnose and fix their deployed systems at any time. This will provide the benefits of increased uptime, reduced problem resolution time, and significant cost savings for FUJIFILM and its customers."
FUJIFILM and Axeda will be showing their solution at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) tradeshow in Chicago, November 30 - December 4, 2003.
The Axeda® Device Relationship Management SystemTM is a distributed enterprise software solution that allows medical instrument and systems manufacturers such as FUJIFILM to leverage the Internet to establish continuous connections to systems deployed at hospitals and treatment centers. Axeda DRM enables service organizations to proactively monitor, diagnose and repair instrument problems remotely, or schedule maintenance appointments to alleviate developing problems before systems actually fail. This reduces the number of costly unscheduled or unnecessary service calls, and increases system uptime to further enhance customer productivity and satisfaction. The Axeda DRM system can also enable new, high-value managed-service offerings such as automated consumable replenishment, system upgrades and pay-for-use billing.
