Former BEA executive to drive global developer community for rapidly growing connected product market

Foxboro, MA - (May 20, 2010) - Axeda Corporation, the leading Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) company for connected products, today announced that Mary Wells has joined the company as chief marketing officer.  Wells brings a wealth of global marketing experience from leading companies such as BEA (now Oracle), BroadVision, Sybase and most recently Kalido.  In her new role, Wells will oversee Axeda’s marketing strategy, product marketing, channel marketing, and marketing communications. 

The market opportunity for connected products such as e-readers and patient health monitors is massive. According to Yankee Group, in the future there will be 1 trillion things connected to the network.  Rethink Wireless estimates that the revenue potential could hit $90 billion a year by 2013.   Wells’ experience will help further Axeda’s leading position in this expansive market.

As vice president of field marketing for BEA, Wells cultivated the company’s worldwide developer community – creating integrated marketing programs that boosted awareness and drove demand for BEA products. Wells also helped strengthen key partner relationships by working closely with BEA’s channel organization. Most recently as vice president of marketing for Kalido, she was responsible for the company’s entire marketing function.

Prior to BEA, Wells worked for BroadVision, where she managed the company’s regional marketing, events, online marketing, RFP and inside sales teams.  She has also held senior marketing positions at Infinium Software and Sybase.

Wells holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Marketing and Human Resource Management & Organizational Behavior from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
